Who Am I?

“I’m just a boy, standing in front of an RV…” sorry, just a little carried away there. That’s a parody of a line from the movie NOTTING HILL. So, Who am I? Just your average Joe. I enjoy going places I’ve never been before, seeing things I’ve never seen before, and meeting people I’ve never met before. Until I created this website I would assemble a newsletter, in Word, with pictures and captions and my thoughts, print it to a PDF and email it to my friends and relatives. My reasons for doing this are two-fold. 1) I travel alone and this is a daily log to my daughters of where I am, what I’m doing, and which law enforcement agency to contact in case they don’t hear from me. 2) Each evening when I go through my photos of the day and tell about where I went and what I saw, it’s like having someone right there that I’m discussing the events of the day with. 3) Ok, I know I said two-fold but I’m the webmaster here and I can do what I want. So, 3) It’s just plain fun.

My love of travel starts as a child with family trips I can’t even remember. My parents went from renting a pop-up to buying a pop-up to a travel trailer to a fifth wheel to a motorhome to a pop-up to a travel trailer, over a span of about 45 years. We took trips to Florida at Christmas and Easter breaks; month-long trips to California (twice), Texas, and across Canada and back. The gallery of photos on Today’s Travel page from National Parks, Monuments, and so on are just a scratch to the surface of my life- long travels. I’m sure some of you that are reading this have heard me say, “I have probably forgotten more places I’ve been than most people travel to in their lifetime.” (and that’s not just because I’m getting old)

I may have a bit of a unique perspective on how beautiful Mother Nature can be, as my business deals with how ugly Mother Nature can get.

All the photos on these webpages were taken by yours truly, unless I gave the camera to someone else to take my picture.

My family knows how much I hate commercials. This website is for fun. I’m not selling anything, you won’t see any affiliate links (unless I get over a thousand followers, won’t happen), I do have a Facebook page which I do not maintain. I’m not on Twitter, YouTube, Instagram or any other social media I don’t even know or care about.

My reason for creating a webpage instead of continuing with a newsletter is that I bought myself a drone for Christmas this year, and I can’t put videos in the newsletter. Now we can all see how long it takes for me to crash and burn.

So I hope you enjoy seeing the photos and reading about my adventures as much as I enjoyed taking them and telling you about them.
